Paid five francs to Proff C. tonight

 Another one of those nice days. Went to Mr. Walter Gays house no 73 Rue Ampere this P.M. with Mr. Hall. Saw some very nice things indeed, some of his small things are very pretty. 
He has a very nice house and a beaut studio. Goes to the U.S. next month. 
He has a Corot drawing a charcoal that I think exqui. Has just sold a picture to the Pinakotek Museum
Model still ill apparently. 
 French Lesson tonight. Paid [[strikethrough]][[fivc?]] [[/strikethrough]] five francs more to the Proff. This takes me to Monday March 31.

 I this day have bought and paid for, one hat (said hat being a grey felt a la Buffalo Bill) the price of same being eleven francs fifty centimes. Place of purchase "Bon Marché" at or about eleven a.m. 
Am now prepared to throw a bluff with George Washington or Ella Wheeler. 
 Twachtman had belly ache today model was sent home ill, Miss Sargent has been in bed several days and I am still doing French exercises and learning fables. 
 Painted a little. 
 Dined with Hall and he came around here  afterwards Talked of trying for Russia this summer Wish we could do it together. 
Guess we three will see Spain if nothing happens, a la bunch. 
 I here make note of the fact that M. Louis [[underline]] gave [[/underline]] (and he is French into my ha[[strikethrough]]d[[strikethrough]]nd one towel for studio use for which he would take no money, (now). I wonder what he will call it in the bill.
