Spent morning at the Musée Plantin and walking. Found it very interesting indeed. Its the old house of Plantin the printer (1549) and has the workshop salerooms and living apartement just about as he used it. The old printing presses, type, capitals some of the beautifully carved in wood and some of the blocks for cuts also nicely done. Some stunning old furniture. Spanish leather & carved beams. nice windows with small square leaded panes Very pretty courtyard also, which contain old vines said to have been planted by old Plantin himself.

Afternoon at the Musée. After it closed I walked along the docks and the River Scheldt awhile. The boats horses men and buildings were fine in the late afternoon light

In tonight.

Was raining when I finished breakfast. Went for my mail & the there was none. Went into the Cathedral & payed my little franc to see them pull up the curtain, from the Rubens' pictures and hear a man explain that the alter that looked marble wasn't marble at all but cement. Isn't that nice, and he pointed out Rubens & Rubens father & Rubens grand father & Rubens great-grand father and away back nearly to Noah and all the English people were so pleased, and one of 'em was deaf and they had to tell it all over to him four of five times and O! it was just lovely. But I was getting to much for my money I thought so I stayed behind & spent all my time with the "descent from the Cross" It's a corker alright

Lunch and to the Musée. Then down to the docks to see what was doing. Dinner and Fleur D'Or.
