August 14
Terrible time-wasting tendencies discovered. Drew in garden of the Brinkman. Small class at end of week. After lunch to Amsterdam with Wadsworth and Miss Rheinlander. x  Roosevelt picture came. Greatly admired and much interest in it. x The grand Ryks. Comments. Evening to the Brongebouw with Miss Burns and party. Favorite music, fine fireworks, dance, Misses Van Ryn. Our people and the Dutch. Walked home.

August 15

Went to Groote Markt, got under colonnade of Stadhuis and did part of the Kerk-with police protection. It was necessary. Interesting work "Kermess in Holle". Washed brushes at studio; it too late for dinner, so I went the the Munchener Place & had beer and sandwich. Then to gallery. Mrs Sterling. The pictures grow lovelier.

Sketched on upper Spaarne. At 8 1/2, A "Talk for art-students at the studio by Wm. M. Chase. One of his finest, -a corncracker, a potwalloper. Came home, talking. R.S.L vs Penn. Acad. with Miss Heilprin and Mrs. Allender.  Heard Bett's anecdotes.

August 16

Rose and dressed leisurely, breakfasted talking with Miss Niles. Loafed around. Finally got started on Club letter. Dinner. Went out for walk and saw museum. Home again and talked with the Wadsworths. Wrote again after supper. Talked and then played fiddle to Miss Carter's very good accompaniment. Felt unsatisfactory on account of little work done. Rain and sunshine, strong winds. Miss Burns knows and likes good music.
