September 1.

"'arwich, sir!" Got up & washed no dressing. Pulled in. Baggage exam easy. Train through very English country. Baedeker. London. Off at Liverpool St. 7.35 Walked around but no sign of barber or breakfast place open. Walked along, saw Bank, St. Pauls etc. fast driving London - the feeling of it; the crowds. Ate and shaved and located at Anderton's Hotel, Fleet St. Went to N. G. - slower than I thought. Met Mrs. Doolittle. Grand surprise & talk. Started to walk through together but thought we had better not. English group. Met Michaelis. Lunch and went to Holland America Office. London - fine. Came back and saw Dutch pictures. Wearied, and so went out and walked to Westminster and the houses of Parliament. Went to Portland Place - dined with girls & had very pleasant time. Home dog tired. Big town.

September 2.

Rose; breakfasted at hotel; got off to N. G. Met Mrs. Doolittle - nice talk, separated. Met Misses Pope, Howland and Taylor. Saw Italian pictures. Lunched, went about - Holland-America, Piccadilly, Liberty and Co.; [[insertion]] York monument [[/insertion]] came back to N.G. and saw French and Spanish sections. Went with Miss Pope to photo shops. Supper at hotel. In quest of barber - all closed after eight. Home tired.

September 3.

Bathed. Settled for hotel. Left, and went to breakfast. Went after Jap store but only got the "Romany Rye". Went to Miss Meggy's and got room. Bus to St. Paul's. Went in, looked up and through the aisle. Walked up the side, inscriptions, grandeur. "Till the day break and the shadows flee away" organ. Impressiveness. Walked through. Statues, altar, dome, color. Walked up Farringdon Road "Agnostic Journal", fruit market, lunch. Sulphurous Underground to Victoria
