to a couple of art stores.  After easels etc. Got them but even coming home in cab were late.  Drew in charcoal from model in afternoon as no paints had come.  Miss Heasti's[[?]] strong sketch.  Typical London girl model.  Walked with Sheeler in evening.
June 30
Hung around studio in morning waiting for paint which did not come;  in afternoon it did and I spent time in getting it to rights and checking off.  In evening Schamberg and Miss Miller and I went to Miss Herr's.  Charming evening.  Miss Kelly and Miss Myatt.  Went out back of house by mansion and see-sawed and saw garden.  Extremely pleasant.
July 1st
Went to studio Got late start on still life as there was paint

selling and canvas stretching.  Scraped still-life.  It needed it.  [[strike through]]Came home[[\strike through]]  Lunch at studio and worked from model.  Fierce sketch, scraped.  Miss Herr's a beauty.  Schamberg's bully butt-in on the head.  Not too discouraged as I remembered last year. Stayed and counted stock to straiten accounts.  In evening called on Mrs. Medlock, who had offered to lend violin.  Nice hearty English type.  Talked about people and places in America.  I bore off the violin.  Weather all these days charming, with occasional spurts of rain.
July 2
Went to studio and after business was transacted sketched out of window.  Decidedly better than previous two, but still very discreditable.  Scraped later.  Lunch at studio.  Sheeler
