  Our collections are growing slowly but quite satisfactorily our latest finds bring a mastodon tooth [[insertion]] ^ in situ [[/insertion]] from the Piedmont highlands and a lower cretaceous [[underline]] palm [[/underline]] from near Balt [[superscript]] [[underlined]] o [[/underlined]] [[/superscript]]. As interesting as this - to me - is the recent recovery from long oblivion of Cha[[superscript]] [[underlined]] s [[/underlined]] [[/superscript]] Wilson Peale's painting - the exhuming of the First Newburg Mastodon, in 1801 - an account of which I will shortly publish.
