I didn't sleep very well last night as the rats or mice kept me awake with their gnawing. In fact, during the night I felt quite ready to go up to the Hotel even if we did have less room!
I still feel a little nervous and upset - loss of sleep is to blame for a lot of it - but in the morning I went on with straightening up the house.
Dick worked on the motor in the afternoon and we spent the evening listening to the radio.

In the morning Dick went down to get the mail which had been forwarded from Barbados. Dick's separates of his thesis arrived. They look very nice, h[[overwrites H]] is only difficulty now will be in getting envelopes to put them in for mailing.

After this we went to see Mr Alan Peter. He seems very nice, and completely lacking in English accent. He is American Consular Agent.

In the morning I complained to Miss Lockhart about it, and she said she would get a man to route them out. As they are between the inner & outer walls I dont see what can be done. As long as they can be kept out of the house I dont mind, but last night one was running along my bed and I dont enjoy that much proximity. We turned the beds around so as to be away from the wall, so I may rest easier now. Were it not that Dick seems so to enjoy the extra space, and low rate, I should insist on going back to the Hotel. I suppose this living with wild life will be a good training for me! If it doesn't give me a nervous breakdown first.
Dick was out most of the morning, and the afternoon was disrupted by the men beating on the roof ^ [[insertion]] and [[/insertion]] tearing out the part of the
