the other day. I was in the middle of this job when Mrs Box came down to say that she had had a phone call & they would be in in 1/2 hr. (I was prepared to wait 1 1/2 hrs.) Anyway that was very welcome news.
Dick came home tired and not so hungry. He had breakfast down here and then we laid down on the bed and rested. We had lunch at 1:30 and after lunch we read out mail which came on the "Nerissa" yesterday. After tea I took a nap & Dick worked on his journal. The rest of the day was uneventful, except that in the evening, as I was listening to the Hit Parade, a centipede fell on my neck, I brushed him off & Dick put him in alcohol.

to be complete + unabridged. The are called Penguin Books.
Mr Box joined us on the porch, and began a short informal talk on what is wrong with St. Lucia. He began with Fennah and his suggestion of 1 oz of paradichlorbenzine as a fumigant [[insertion]] for each tree [[/insertion]] when Box found 4 oz of little avail. The trouble is in the administative set up which forces one man to work parallel to another without allowing them to benefit by each others experiences. Each government entolmologist on each W.I. island is expected to work independently, and without the aid of his other W.I. colleagues.
From there we went to Aspinalls Guide Book, to the shiftlessness of governors, administrators and often officers of the crown, to the miscarriage of justice, and ending up with the illegitimate son of the last French gov. of the island.
Through out the discourse there were many extravagant statements made, also many very true ones. However, the discussion was one sided, and any extra remarks on the part of the supposed listeners was unfavorably received by the narrator.
