chain stitch ones. It is portable, which is a big help. Dick read some more to me as I made the finishing touches in handwork.
Frank, the chauffeur was supposed to come for us at 3 so we could get an early start, but he didn't arrive until 4. We drove right to Diamond Estate where we (Miss du B & I) took a bath in the hot springs.
I was a little disappointed in the place as I expected to see the springs bubbling up all around. Instead, the spring is boxed up something like a reservoir. Then on the other side of the wall are two bathing cubicles. These baths were built over 100 years ago - and they look it. I got in the water so that I could say I had bathed but the odor and steam made me feel a little faint so I didnt stay long. The auto had made me a little car sick too.
The house at Diamond is a fairly large wood house, equipped with electric lights, running water and a fairly nice bath. Even at that it is not as well kept as St Remy. The garden is nice and the caretaker seems to keep it up fairly well. Roses were growing in abundance.

house while we waited for Miss du Boulay to take her bath. They seem to have some fairly decent chickens - Plymouth rocks and Rhode Island Reds [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] or Orpingtons (sp?).
After bathing we went down to Soufrière House for tea. I had been told that it was an old estate house and that I shouldn't expect too much of it. However, I was rather surprised to find that it was a wooden house instead of stone - as most old houses are. Tea was nice, but very much stronger than I like.
After tea we went down to the beach where the du Boulays have a bathing hut. The beach was nice but cool at this time of afternoon.
I almost forgot to mention that I met Mr Andre du Boulay for the first time. His wife is very good looking. She was a [[strikethrough]] M [[/strikethrough]] Nairn from St. Vincent. They have 6 children 4 girls and 2 boys. They call Mrs Andre - WeeGee.
Mrs Date the Magistrates wife is also from St Vincent. She was Dorothy Grant.
Before I left Mme du Boulay insisted on giving me some Cus-cus grass to put with my clothes. It is supposed to keep moths away, as well as smell sweet. The former must be the most potent!
