St Croix #20

Miss Fleming's illness lasted all in all two weeks. It is a wonder it didnt last longer as she has no confidence in Dr Hughes and she wont do as he says. Now, that she is feeling better she keeps talking about taking it easy and what she really needs is exercise. Her two main troubles are obesity and too many highballs if she isn't careful she is going to have high blood pressure. She could be a very attractive woman (Dick to the contrary) if she were not so fat, and were a little more careful with her complexion & hair - not that she is untidy when she is dressed up, but she is inclined to be one of the "wear-curlers-all-day types." She is good hearted in her way only she spoils it by boasting how much she has done for certain people. Her family is her main trouble. There are 2 sides to every question but from my own observations I would say that her sister (Mrs Curry) & her brother have been giving her a dirty deal since her mothers death. The way they act has driven her to seek protection in any way she [[strikethrough]] seek [[/strikethrough]] [[insertion]] thinks [[/insertion]] she can find it. [[underlined]] Mrs Knott [[/underlined]] - whom I have spoken of before. She impressed me as a very nervous woman the first time I met her, but this day she was very calm. She was not wearing her glasses, so she didnt have a chance to worry with them. She hardly said 2 paragraphs full all afternoon.
[[underlined]] Mrs White [[/underlined]] - I've also mentioned before. I found her as nice as when first we met We sat together on the sofa and Mrs Darsch sat with us the first part of the afternoon.
[[underlined]] Mrs Darsch [[/underlined]] (or Darch or Darsh) - I have also mentioned. She was the first person there - I was second - and we were
