Since last writing we have seen the following moving pictures 'Dont Turn 'Em Loose" with Bruce Cabot; "Devil's Squadron" Richard Dix; and "Ladies in Love" by Janet Gaynor - previously mentioned.
On the 19th Dick had a violent pain in his stomach, but it only lasted the night. However on the evening of the 24th I experienced a slight pain, [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] [[insertion]] and [[/insertion]] thinking it was something else I paid little attention to it until Sunday morning (27th) when I became certain that it must be a case of this 'intestinal' flu we'd heard about. The symptoms were all there, so I sent Dick out to the drug store for castor oil. I took it and remained in bed all day.
This same Sunday evening it began to pour rain and rained so hard that our room began to leak and I had to move my bed into the middle of the room. From this time until the date of writing (January 3rd) we have not seen the sun, and it has drizzled when it didnt pour. 
I had to take castor oil twice, as I took small doses each time and the after-

noon of the 31st was the first time I felt well enough to do much.
Before all this rain, we had the water turned off for several days. It is rather difficult trying to keep house without water and one night it was specially bad as Dick was doing the cooking because I was sick. The water was off 2 different times. The Monday before Xmas was once & the Monday after was the other. This ^[[insertion]] must [[/insertion]] be a habit in Puerto Rico as it happened last time we were here.
We have at last decided how we are going to get to Jamaica. We had the choice of 3 ways - (1) Fly (2) Via Republica Dominicana (3) By cruise ship Kungsholm via Trinidad, La Guiana, Curacao, Canal Zone and Kingston. Mr Thompson of the marine inspection department was very kind and helpful and tried to do his best to help us get on the Horn Line here. However, there was little he could do as the Horn Line had failed to do some of the things required of them last time they were inspected, so that they had to license to pick up passengers here. To fly was expensive and involved a lot of trouble
