Pernambuco I'd give up and go to Goyaz, but São Paulo is proud of its railways and this is a Paulista line. Mr. Kalb says that all possible is being done. The rains have been continuous. I think the line goes to Lins, about 2/3 across the state. My ^[[insertion]] 3 [[/insertion]] trunks of supplies have gone on to somewhere. The nocturno (the only through train) does not carry baggage. I sent my trunks down the day before to go on a day train. The chefe at baggage room said they are probably at Lins. I've lost a whole [[underlined]] week [[/underlined]] - tough luck.
