Dear Prof Hitchcock,
[[margin, vertical blue line]] This is "outwest" in Brasil. I am impatiently waiting for my trunks, so I can change driers and get out. [[/margin]] It is 10 minutes of 8 and I've been standing around (and pestering the hotel man) for an hour. To save time I've engaged an auto to take me 15 km north toward (or to) same low mountains I'll walk back collecting. The Maxwells did not arrive ^[[insertion]] at Tres Lagoas [[/insertion]] Wednesday night - neither did the train. There was a freight wreck ahead (a train fell from the track in front is the literal interpretation of what I was told) and the passenger train arrived at 3:30 am. I heard it coming and dressed quickly and ran to station, but no Maxwells. So I left a note, which they may not get, and came on at 5:40.
