I hadn't had from Matto [[vertical blue lines, left margin]] Grosso. ΒΆ We saw 3 deer today and a flock of 5 emus. I've seen toucans every day and parrots, ^[[insert]] large woodpeckers [[/insert]] and other interesting birds. At Rondonopolis, the place I called Indian Reservation, but which is General Rondons' fazenda instead, there was a large bird somewhat [[/vertical blue lines]] like a cassowary, but smaller and very handsome. For some reason it followed me around when I was spreading driers and even when I went up the road to collect. It kept up a continuous querulous croak.
