Had an extremely pleasant and frank talk with the Regional Sec. Mr. Ames.- who deplores Leopold's arrival - especially his private Ford car - (that car is damning certainly every one who runs it gets into trouble if was Swinburns). Leopold can never stay on here I believe unless Goodwin goes - I made it clear to Ames why Leopold had been sent up - to help organize the work - as it had been his business in the States. After lunch (in Place Stanislau), I took a short walk in the lovely park - which was exquisite in the Autumnal color & sunshine and two Hun airmen came over. and were driven away. by the harmless looking little clouds of smoke - like cotton spindles or distaffs in the blue sky Took the evening train back to Paris - and arrived [[insertion]] Wednesday [[/insertion]] [[strikethrough]] Tuesday [[/strikethrough]] 30th at 8.
