Before supper Miss Jay and I took a short walk - and went into Miss Morgans charming place. - she was not at home.
Mary [[?]] - Julietta and I returned to Paris in the 9 oclock train - and arrived in a mild thunderstorm - 
Monday August 26
Saw Mr. Carter a moment this morning. Gertrude Ely came in and paid me a call and also a man from the "Stars and Stripes" Mr. Walcott. who wishes to write up the "Army Talent" costumes plays etc.
Drew some money. paid my bills - gave Pauline Vignon her final instruction -
Wrote to Genl. Glenn about his soldier organization and asked if it could be sent to Havre - also wrote to Dr. Martin and told him I had done this - Wrote Tom - Ms Elisabeth Sargeant and a Home letter
Got a cable from Winthrop Ames asking if I could make use of George Baker. over here - answer I would write him - 
Took train at 8.30.
Tuesday. August 27
Slept well last night in my upper couchette. and awoke to the charming country side around Aix les Bains - It was a perfect Summer day and the mountains. looked clean and washed. and made you forget for a time what most of the whole World is thinking of these Summer days
