situated in a school - a large establishment with gardens - and a noble tree in the front courtyard.
After walking around the town. and having a very good supper - I sat in a doorway with a lady from Amiens and her beautiful tiger cat - with a pretty little girl about 14. named Georgette and her brother. and we watched 4 Sausages go up for the night. while the Lady told of the destruction of Amiens by the Boche -
I walked through the town again. and stood a long time on the bridge talking to a Canadian soldier - a middle aged man - from British Columbia -
After I got to bed. I could hear the distant thunder of Artillery.
Next day. after lunch - "Doctor" Masters. and Mr. [[?]] and Mr.        and I started out in a little Ford The two more men came along in their Ford. [a refractory little beast. which gave them trouble all the afternoon.  The afternoon was lovely. and the scenery beautiful  We stayed at [[?]] a Divisional H.Q. where we deposited a movie machine.
We passed through country familiar to me. - I saw a sign pointing the way to the "American Chateau" where I was entertained last December by the British H.Q.
The American soldier keeps himself out of sight - mot in the background I imagine but in the very Front.
We approached Cassel - and about 5.30 arrived at [[?]] - and here we took supper, and slept.
The Hun Birds were very attentive in the night and laid seven eggs in an around the little town - an attention that even Paris hardly equals - my bed shook so that [[strikethrough]] my [[/strikethrough]] I awoke and gave more attention to the performance than usual - it certainly is not pleasant - and you have the same helpless feeling experienced in an earthquake
