I satisfied myself why in the rookery that the fresh [[strikethrough]] carcarses [[/strikethrough]] bodies in the wind row were in the same condition, and the fact that they were thus thrown up on the beach by the water signifies but little, for we had had no severe weather as yet, and it is therefore impossible that [[strikethrough]] all [/strikethrough]] there pups could have been killed by any "surf nip".
