Linquist and I took a long walk from which we did not return until 4.30pm. We went first round the lake and from its northern end walked up to the top of the second ridge in the direction of [[Kniatrkajn?]], he armed with my camera and tripod, I with my gun. Hardly a bird was seen in the whole trip except a single [[underlined]] [[Nucifraga caryocatacter?]] [[/underlined]] which disappeared before I could get within range. This scarcity of birds is very remarkable. Thus far I have only observed: [[underlined]] Ens- [[/underlined]] [[blue pencil]] 577 [[/blue pencil]]
