After last week, there was an almost startling abundance of Anisoptera here. Some notables: Gomphus exilis - extends seasonal record for Cape Anax junius- many exuviae, indicating large emergence Lib. auripennis - first time seen at pond. 1 caught in woods previously. Lad. exusta- almost none Lad. deplanata - very few, but more than exusta. I would judge I saw 20 at the pond. On the best day, July 1, there were that many at one time on 1 1/2' square board on shore and many, many more in pond. C. martha- 1st sign. Thought I saw 1 or 2 pairs besides the 2 specimens caught. Argla violacea. - 1st time seen at Flashy E. aspersum - 1st of season L. vigicax- I don't recall such an abundance of this sp. at Flashy [[sketch at bottom left-labeled E. aspersum ♀ body to tail labeled 7-10]]
