A wrote to Bill and his mother. I died a lot of ^[[things]] black in afternoon. A squally rain. A to Huntington in P.M. to buy a grappling hook. Mailed Pic. R. story & called him up. Wea. THURSDAY 31 Ther. I lying down most of day - A sketched in Life drawing. Lawrence came in & made "tank" with spool, piece of candle, match, & elastic band.

Just a curiosity -- wondering if the (S) that appears with regularity is Helen's "code" for starting her period. I've noticed over the last few diaries that it is frequently pre and post dated by head aches and time lying down. - tml.
