AUGUST SUNDAY-29 I silvered stove pipe anchores & such. Blacks stopped. Had two good swims, we scrubbed bow hat & cleaned big one. Back to Halesite mooring at 6.10. P.M. MONDAY-30 Clear & fresh. A to Huntington at 7.30 deposited Life check, did marketing & errands. I washed big wash - made curtains for doors, posed for nigger drawing, went to Huntington at 5 for photographs. Had to wait for them till nearly 7 got sneakers & dress material. back & Cap. Darling in for a little while, then Jim for supper. [[end page]] [[start page]] AUGUST TUESDAY-31 Clear. Posed for Life figures. Started dress got it nearly made. Irene here in P.M. & for supper. A finished & matted both drawings. Letter from A's mother. SEPTEMBER WEDNESDAY-1 Clear A to N.Y. on 8.11. Took Life joke & "Paradise Lost." I to store, ice, cleaned boat. to Edwards for vegeatables. A back 2.30 with story from Scribners, & promise of joke and of work & story from Elks soon. Brought one "Story of Philosophy." Both read some of it. [[underlined]] Washed hair [[/underlined]]. John & Irene in in evening, brought mail check from McClures. Raleigh & Holly coming.
