Called up Chub - she said Douglas had to be out of town on Sun. that we'd - go following Tues. Letters from Robert, first paying Mother better, second saying she had bad chill. I not doing much but chores. Chub came to Dock & called in eve. I over to [[?]].

Alice & I to Hartford - got here early in P.M.
Wea. FRIDAY 8 Ther.
[[strikethrough]]A worked on Dear Sir, I painted in P.M. on stone & crockery. In eve. we started down to look for mooring when [[strikethrough]] we saw [[/strikethrough]] boat called "Arthur" from Dock. Robert wrote Mother had had another attack. Both thought one should go right up. Mrs. [[?]] brought Chub over. I packed in few minutes & went to [[?]] for over night. Dr. Starr [[?]] & [[?]] to us[[/strikethrough]]. This was Thurs.

Wea. SAT. JUNE 9, 1928 Ther.
[[strikethrough]] Up early wrote note to Arthur. Alice I to N.Y. & got 11 o'clock train to Hartford. Chub took flowers. Robert met us & wanted to surprise Mother. Not a good idea. She terribly glad to see us. Everything pleasant there, nurse, etc. Dr. Starr there in P.M. & talked to us. [[/strikethrough]] Telegram to Mother from Bill. This happened Fri.

Dr. Lawson & wife there.
I for drive through Hartford while Chub stayed with Mother. Chub went back at 3 P.M. I sent letter to A. & Chub called up from N.Y.
