JANUARY 14 Monday.
Cold - thermometer 12 above, but I think it's a liar as milk man [[insertion]] in Noroton [[/insertion]] told Arthur it was [[underlined]] 8 below [[/underlined]] at 3 A.M.
Arthur decided I'd better not know the worst of it until house was warmer, brought my breakfast up to bed, & I stayed there till 10.30.
In afternoon out a little, then started painting of plants in window.
Arthur started tree & sun.

Tuesday JANUARY 15
Snow.
Both to Stamford.
Muffler blew out of Ford, so to Fordery & had it put in - new one - cost 5.88. including tips.  Then on down marketed & got paints & stretchers - a help this town.
In P.M. I did painting "Artificial Flowers & Real Pict". Arthur started tall tree & small sun one.  Arthur to Stamford again for linseed oil & thumb tacks.
A nice letter from Arthur's mother to me.
Our stocks down to 76 be god.
