OCTOBER 16 Wednesday.
[[underlined]] Arthur seeing Bill today. [[/underlined]]
Both up early & he drove to Oyster Bay to get 9 A.M. ferry. I wrote to Mrs. Dove telling her this. To P.O. Cleaned place. Painted "After Image". More burn & larger areas than I've gotten before, though not enough "burn".
Arthur - a shining Arthur - came in and said "He's a wonderful boy". We talked for a long time of the day.

[[underlined]] Snow! [[/underlined]] (well a flurry)
Thursday. OCTOBER 17
Arthur and I to Huntington. A handsome boisterous day. Got vegetables at the Georges, and a rose! Just after we reached home a squall rain & snow. Perfectly clear in East and dark streamers of Clouds in West. Gales all day. Letters from Mother and Elizabeth. Mother can not come for her birthday - too many people there.
Arthur drew a little - we talked a little - napped a little and sat by the stove a lot. I picked out a silver necklace for Mother. Arthur wrote a beautiful letter to Mrs. Cobb.
