Monday  AUGUST 4
All up early.  Arthur off on 7.45 ferry to meet Bill in Stamford.  Mother and I on 8.11 to shop in N.Y.  To Bonwit & Tellers, got grey dress there, to L. & Ts.  ^[[Ma [[underlined]] thrilled [[/underlined]] ]] got violet evening dress. After lunch to Wanamakers - got me pants suit, Ma suit case, corset and silk for dress.  Home on 4.19.  As I neared door heard phone - Arthur!  They'd had break down & he & Bill coming on 6 o'clock ferry.  I did chores, got dinner & they here - A nice amusing time we all had till Holly called trouble there.  Arthur down there till 12 P.M.  Mother to bed, Bill & I talked & smoked
