278 Saturday OCTOBER 4 Both to Huntington this morning. Arthur bought a sanding machine which "sands" every thing in the place with sawdust. He worked on frames - I spent some time working on the arrangement of a still life, which the Blacks dog disarranged in a split second. [[end page]] [[start page]] 279 Sunday OCTOBER 5 Papers - Arthur worked on frames - I drew in still life - Pine Cone - In the afternoon we called upon the Scudders delivering information - address - Mother sent. Looked up words - sarcastic - sardonic - ironic etc. Surprised at sarcastic & ironic which I had always thought were vica verca in meaning.
