Arthur to 512, got Tel. check & deposited it to pay interest on mortgage.  Paid water tax or bill on block, hayed.  I fixed house for Davidsons, made beds etc.

Wednesday  AUGUST 2  (S)  Arthur's birthday
Arthur marketed for D's. got canned chickens.  I did more on house.  We watched & waited for telegram which came at 6 P.M. saying they'd be here at 10.30.  I forgot it was Arthur's birthday he told me.  Such a sad thing to do.  Davidsons, Swamie Nikilumunda & Mr Moffett arrived at 9.30 - all very tired except Davidson.  He & Arthur for a walk about place, others to bed, Mr M. on horse hair sofa.
