Sunday FEBRUARY 11 [[hand drawn star]]
At 4 A.M. a loud banging on door. Arthur stepped out, had flash light thrown in face. Said who is it? No answer for minutes. Finally - "A couple of cops." Let them in. Asked if A. had been to town that eve. etc. Etc. Finally said man had been killed beyond our drive. Went out to see George. All very startling - and absurd.
Arthur painted on "Approaching Snow Storm." I cleaned, cooked chicken.
Nebel here with basket of apples & bag of huge bones. John enjoyed them. Arthur, George & I over for ale. That's all.

Both up briskly - wrote to Mother. Final laundry. Both to town. I sent box of pecan roll to Mother, got thinner artics, collar for John. Arthur met Paul. They signed Telephone lease in O'Brien's office. We to 512, saw paper & paint, & new little dog. Home. Man here to measure for higher stove pipe. Men here for 1/2 ton cheap hay. Arthur painted a little on "Approaching snow storm."

I tired, lay down in P.M.
