Monday, September 19, 1938 Rain - Arthur too garage for man to start car. Angelo working on floor - all day - I doing accounts, sewing - etc. European situation looks rather desperate. [[end page]] [[start page]] Tuesday, September 20, 1938 Rain - Angelo worked 1/2 a day, until 12, sawing ends — wood too wet to lay. Arthur to Huntington, came back, followed by Salvation Army man with trailer with gas stove. Sal. Army man spoke of piano to be had, I telephoned Mary, then wrote to her, walking to P.O. to mail it, rain a deluge as I walked back, & for rest of day & night. Big leaks in unfixed side of roof.
