  [[Lemme?]] surprised when I say that the Met. turned down a fine Copley that they could have bought, that they want them and are very anxious to get good ones as Boston is so much ahead of them in that matter.  Says any that are for sale should be offered.  they want them badly.  O'H says library has catalog of Huntington coll which has the Washington & the librarian Wm Clifford may know something of it.  Try &  see catalog.  Find photo which had been pasted in & referred to in description  nothing.  Tell Clifford of this  Strange-both the original & the photograph missing!  Clifford calls up a woman in another part of the museum who comes in with a card record bearing photo of the Copley Washington.  says Geo Brick is in charge of documents [[?]] [[?]] which may have the

Stop on way back at Pub Library to show F Weitenkampt some wood cut prints.  W is much interested.  Find him overworked.  Says, "day is not half long enough."  Says he had a letter from [[?]] recently.  Likes my "judgement of Paris" & "1917"  Says "Why did you exhibit with the "Painter-Gravers?"  Arrive in Westford near midnight.  Find no one at Windsor Av.

Thurs 18 July  work at MS of Copley Book

Friday 19 July  work at MS  stop in to see Kress  Find hi busy.  good work.  lunch at Thompsons with him.  Tell him may go to Gloucester tomorrow.  met Plunkett last night and he turned over a little money on his portrait  Leave Kress at midnight.
