says she has an art column in the Boston Advertiser everyday now since Hearst bought it. Thinks I ought to do something for the "American" She says Managing Editor is Mr Riondan and I should see him. Says Kronberg is a friend of his.  I tell Miss O about Kronbergs letter defending Sargent against my criticism of his portrait of [[strikethrough]] Woodr [[/strikethrough]] President Wilson. Miss O says Theresa Berstein has written asking her to get her a room. Miss O says Theresa was "liked last year--and disliked---and mostly disliked." She says this I know simply to state a fact for I know she herself likes her though she deprecates her fearful conceit as I do. Miss O says Mrs Seaton-Schmidt is having the Schmidt legally removed from her name and Miss O says [[strikethrough]] Mrs [[/strikethrough]] "She likes you very much  she says you are the real thing."  ha!  Mrs S.S. is the lady who wrote so much about her personal [[strikethrough]] rel [[/strikethrough]] interviews with Rodin .. a keen looking serious looking woman.

Anna Seaton-Schmidt. Miss O then tells me that she herself feels most gloomy. I tell her I can't believe it  she seems so jolly and such an optimist. She laughs "Oh that's mere camoflage, really I am most depressed."  Then she [[strikethrough]] tellsm [[/strikethrough]] tells me of troubles with her foot that prevents her getting around. Poor lady who likes so much to get about & see what the world is doing. Poor Miss Oliver She's so interested in my book on Copley subscribed immediately I show her a circular hunting in her bag for a stray blank check. So we talk on. I telling her how Miss B & I wanted her to show with our "Eclectics" last winter but a certain someone interposed an objection. Poor Miss Oliver She asks over & over who it was - says she thinks she ought to know I tell her that I do not want to say as it's too much like tattling.  But I believe she suspects rightly before we're through.
