to work at a dress for Ruth and in the eve we have a terrific row cause she insists on coming out to see Ruth after dark.  However on her return we get more sensible & we have a little time together with [[strikethrough]] Friday [[/strikethrough]] out any trouble. Carol sleeps in the hammock on the veranda and I stay with her awhile  After falling asleep beside her very close to her after being together, I suddenly wake up & turn slightly away from her We have been so close after being together fully that the movement startles her and she quickly shouts in a whisper "Guy!" The [[strikethrough]] name  [[/strikethrough]] word goes through me like a knife and I turn toward her to waken her - Then she rouses and says "Oh, be careful. don't break the swing". We are together again and after a time I leave her. going to sleep indoors with the children.
Friday 26 July before leaving. I tell Carol what she said in her sleep. and she laughs & puts her hands on my shoulders and her head on my breast. I ask her to promise not to let that creature call on her late at night and she does. Then I leave. and reach Hartford at midnight

paint a head of Mick Turner the West Virginia girl Then Montgomery comes in from Camp Upton in his uniform & we arrange to paint him between 7 oclock & 8.30 when the light will be gone. Monty is late in coming so the lost half hour tells against us. However get something. Monty says he'll be back at midnight so Joe gets some beer & cheese & crackers & potables and we have a pleasant time listening to Montys tales of the soldiers life. Then he takes us at 2 AM over in his automobile to Joes house where we have more a o cold beer.  Then at 3.30 he drives me home
Sunday 28 July down to see Anne at the Doctors
Monday 29 July  hot  out looking for a place to live find 66 Standish St. - arrange to take it. Call on Furyk who comes over to see it with me  He has some good pictures [[ready?]]. Comes up later to Kress's we arrange a list
