Says he will get it for me as Rich Codman the present is an old patron of theirs. Will also get me a photo of the Malden Copley. R says no one in the place can keep track of any thing - and he's nearly driven crazy with little worries thrust on him. Keeps his wonderful good nature however. Stop at Library to see old papers then early to
Gloucester. Find Carol sewing
Saturday 3 Aug fine in the salt Gloucester air after the heat of Hartford.
Sunday 4 Aug. Out picking berries [strikethrough]] with [[/strikethrough]] in AM  See girl & young man come onto porch with Carol Then they sing out to me & when I get near I see Theresa Bernstein & her father. Mr. Bern good mood makes generous presents of money to the children but pleads his need of rushing right away to New York. Carol walks down to car with them after very short visit. [[?]] has a room at [[Tottles?]] on the [[conn?]] & can't stay.
Monday 5 August.  Carol has a letter from

Tuesday 6 August
Wednesday 7 August stop in to see Walanccampf who says Wansons who rents me the studio in Roxbury Neck is full of anxiety not having seen me. Val puts his hand behind his ear & imitates
Wonsons deaf movements & says "Say are those pictures worth anything?  Are they?" & Val says old Walen says "He's got one of George Washington there. I spose that's worth something." & Val roars says Wanson is going to keep chickens in the [[strikethrough]] shed [[/strikethrough]] studio. I go up and see Wonsan who is all right now that I've turned up. Val wants me to exhibit in his studio & I think I will He will open his place Saturday with Miss Nelson when she shows a figure in clay she's doing with Bryc[[?]] Baker. We go in to Miss Neilsons next studio & meet Miss N her sister & Miss Shulars [[?]] Boston who is painting large double portraits of the Ns. Found two very fine charcoal heads of the [[McKern?]] by Raymond Neilson a distant relative pupil of [[strikethrough]] lan [[/strikethrough]] Lawrence & R [[?]]
