I tell him I am only printing 300.  So there's a job to select.  [[?]] V gives me a photo of Ryders "[[Larrs?]]" & sends the Hunters Rest to Townsend to illustrate.  RCV agrees to sit for me before I go back to Conn. but insists I shant do it for nix.  Says he likes my "Widow" very much and is going to write Atwood about it.  Thinks Atwood ought to buy it.  Get 715 back to Gloucester.  In Boston station see cab

Tuesday 13 August.  Down at 11 to gallery to see if Jean got a list so as to send "Art News" an account of the show.  Atwood says he'll have a list right down.  Some people came to the door to see & he sends them all away.  After the list comes he asks me in to look at Sloans two which have no titles & I find Jane Peterson assuming direction of the hanging.  She's disposed things against the end wall against the partition covering the stage in beastly dismal fashion.  I tell her to put my "Widow" in the ceiling but Atwood says "Now now you never mind I'll see that the "Widow" has a good place".  Mrs Atwood comes over & wants to see the Widow  says Mr A. says "its wonderful"
so McCarty Atwoods chaffeur holds it up & Mrs A exclaims "Oh that great isnt it.  Its a beautiful picture Mr Britton.  Atwood consults me about some
