EXHIBITION OF "ECLECTICS" IS INSPIRING
by Marian P Waitt

The Ex of "Ec" now current at the Vose galls is inspiring. There is nothing academic about the robust contributions. Especially in the tone of the canvs in the red gall where W Griffin N. Walter Teresa B and Henry Hubbell show sit. canvs pd fearlessly with sound values & due regard for pattern & color.
H Hubbels por of John Rubens is masterly. There is no "tickling" of the edges in their painting-the values as they juxtapose are sufficiently thus to do the trick without it. His por. caning etc
T Bertein cans was interesting etc
S Dickenson's "Fur Coat" showing very blond type with tawny yellow hair is chalky. the mask of the face tells ultimately against the rather leaden bg. The chest does not impress me as being altogether well drawn & the wh. comp. is [[?]] color in its sharp values.
In the green gall Mr. Hubbel green dominates the bg the quality- not the size this cans. It is difficult to concentrate upon the larger & thinner ps. after seeing the delectible group (HS).
However in this gall, James Britton exhibits the "Widow" and Pere Haydn Mr. Walters shows several colorful but thin sketches & P Hales shows sev lands. quite lovely in places but as a whole dry & labored & lacking in open [[?]] take.
