In paintings now to be seen as Mrs [[Marburg's?]] 8th St studio Mr Du Bois puts forth his right to eminence and gives promise of supplying America with a real landscape painter  George Innes having been discovered to be a mere Barbizonian as Wyant a [[Turntler?]] & [[Vauhtbun?]] Martin a an inefficient drone.  As a saturist Mr Du Bois is of course all alone H Daumier having died somewhat since and E Higgins having [[strikethrough]] caus by her thes [[/strikethrough]]

Portrait Medal.

     Monday Dec 2 [[strikethrough]] Arr [[/strikethrough]] Stay over at Nans in Brooklyn to finish my picture of Pershing.  Work till near 4 oclock from midnight then sleep till 10 AM.  wakened by Dr [[Sad?]] talking to woman who wants a tooth out.  Then shave & clean up then subway to 50th St then to Babcocks Gallery.  Find Babcock who says Theresa B just gone out to lunch 1.30 will be back.  Find no pictures hung yet, but placed around on floor.  Good I begin to shift them as Babcock goes off to lunch.
   Dickinson's big "Spanish Girl" is very fine and his portrait of his brother is good too.  I put that in centre in place of Teresas "Library" and the big Spanish Girl at end of gallery to right of door leaving the left space for my figure "Peace".  Theresa arrives and says my picture and another landscape of hers are coming.  Teresa
