others immediately ordered & Stuart painted 
the first Lansdowne full l. in a barn back of his
house in Germantown - Wm Constable saw Stuart at 
it and ordered simitar one Cs one descendent 
[[Is?]] Henry E Pierrepont Brooklyn Constable had 
Stuart do a 1/2 length from it & C gave it to Alex 
Hamilton.  Stuart had several other full [[l?]] ordered
The one in NYPL was done in 1799 for Peter Jay 
Monro and was purchased by James Lenox
in 1845 now in Lenox Coll. - Library.
Stuart did several replicas of his "Atheneum
head one in 1810 for Josiah Quincy 
Stuart when asked what portraits of Washington 
were the best said - Hordon's bust comes 
first & my head of him next." (Atheneum head)
Trumbull painted GW before Stuart 
Remb Peale did one 1795 James Peale CWs
brother did the (Pub Lib) one in uniform from
life in 1778.  [[Dave?]] Claypoole of Pa sold it to Lenox
Second article on W ports say CWP. p. W from
life 14 times & made many copies earliest
is Was Col of Virginia Mil. 1772
