Look up Copley's portraits of Thos Ainslee 3/4 sent to Scotland
Judge Leigh_ Ch. Justice Peter Leigh of So Carolina b 1710 d - 1759 only son was Sir Egerton Leigh who had [[pre-??]] [[?]] with H Laurens

Says he was fired from NY Times adv. dep where he made some ad drawings that didn't go. Shows them to me. I tell him as [[?]] why didn't go have too much character. I tell [[?]] I'm glad they fired him he now will have chance to paint. Shows me the drawings which he will show next week at Mrs Whitneys with Scott Beal. Davey asks me what I think of Bellows peace pictures I tell him and he laughs and agrees. D has a bull fight in Spain that has a good tone. I tell him I could select a show of his stuff that would show him up. I tell him the Cuban stuff won't go. He seems to think so too. I tell him the race isn't of enough interest to our people.
