 I can't paint enough to satisfy the people here.  -M tells about selling several little 2 X 4 things years ago for 50 cents apiece.  Murphy good talker.  We all look over the Muskateers in the Montross catalog & speculate on the prices they'll bring. I say Hon Walkers horse p will bring about 12,000  Ireland says 13 000 for [[Tryons?]] characteristic one. 
Met Babcock with his little girl coming into AAA as I went out.  B smiling as usual says when'll I have that catalog.  I say Wednesday  I tell Murphy I met Henry Poore over at the A.A.A. & he replies "Poor Henry".
Poore came up to me a second time at the AA to explain why he sold the Chase "says" I don't want you to think I was commercial but did just lost about $10 000 on a orig foolish speculation. and I really needed the money."  Murphy is very funny.  When I spoke of Jeanette Smith he expressed real sympathy for her called her "Granny"  
Says he may surprise us with the article he's writing for me about M. 
 Sunday over to Brooklyn call up Montfort & Dickenson about rep.  A 's part of M. both pleased.
Stop at Jim Weilands studio in Poplar & go over to hotel to see his show - Jim looks as G. de F Brough used to 30 yrs ago.  I tell him so.  He & wife listen to my story of new paper with much apparent interest.  Can't say as much about sup. Call up

Miss Minsk & found she's laid up & all alone.  Say I'll get Mrs Lever to see her.  Stop at Miss Sahlers who says W. Whittemore liked my pictures in her studio.  Meet a Mrs. Harrison there who says she owns two Monticelli's.  Up to Miss [[Mueche?]] after leaving [[strikethrough]] art at Mrs. Lerners.  Mrs. L comes later with M tells  some good Ryder stories & I tell [[clover like symbol]] to write them down for us.  Mr L says the little French girl is fired with enthusiasm to study with me. 

Monday  Stop at Granville Smiths  Find him worrying over his academy p. and has not yet been asked to send to Paris.  Step out on Fifth Ave.  See Du Bois beating it fast pounding a stick on walk & carrying flat thing wrapped in a Sunday news supplement.  I say, "You seem bent uptown in a great hurry.  He smiles "I am"   I say Are you painting?  He says "Yes"  I say "Good luck & off to 6th Ave.  Stop at Kimbels arrange his stuff for him.  Then a minute at AAA.  See Muller & Boudoin.  Then on way out meet John Flanagan who likes idea of mag & is pleased when I ask for his Plaquette of Weir.  Says he'll send photo.  Says Griff told him about the paper.  Just at door meet A Altman also wants a hand in paper says he can help me.  Very curious. Outside meet Mulley who comes to have a drink on me. & I tell him the history of Art News mess.  M says he scouts the Copleys at Christe.  asks me to go in to see them.  Up the ave meet
