I ought to get Herbert Adams to write about him.  We talk about Gibson and Davies is disgusted & says "The Government fell down terribly in appointing a man like that." Davies very enthusiastic says he'll subscribe.  Luks also.  George all the time standing by & the 3 of us in the midst of Sloan's pictures  Davies points to Sloan's "Dust Storm" and says "That's a good Luks over there."  Luks I tell Luks he ought to paint Davies  He says he did so years ago.  Drop in to see Ferargil about adv says he'll have one.  Says the Weir I liked is now at MacBeths.  Will have it photographed.  Young lady then says her mother paints nice girl.  Over to Babcocks  write an answer to Gregg for Herald & Bs stenog. types it & I

Thursday 13 Mar.  Go around to see picture  finally get Richter on 6th ave below 30 who'll do a sheet for 10 for 14 point 12 for 13 point.  Sax wanted $25 & slick chap on 7th Av near 23rd wanted 13.50  Decide Richter better have it  seems the best chap anyway O.
Stop at Macbeths to see Louis Ritmans things  Good color patterns suggest Frieseke but not so refined in character of form.  Stop at Montross to see Horatio Walkers Soapy stuff.  Land into Babcocks.  Several people come in. Young girl and dark young man get talking about their group and girl is very interesting.  Rather doubts Prendergast till I talk much to her about it.  As she stands with head near one the magnificent color makes stunning background and I ask her to remain a bit and I say she should be painted that way.  Young man says "Why don't you do it?"
