Go up to Babcocks & Miss [[Menich?]] comes in  First thing she speaks about was "Sun" article on me.  Higgins speaks of it too. and remarks that McBride left his name out of the notice of our Ex & the Painters Gravers.  Higgins then says [[Sherman?]] pulled the PE show all to pieces after Higgins hung it & H started up there to raise hell but Steiner met him at the door & said "You sold 'Evening'" (meaning one of the Ps at Knoedlers in Mrs Steiner's Higgins show)  So Higgins says he forgot the tustle he was going to make  His imitation of Steiner's voice and manner was immense.  Put Higgins on the bus and go - Eve stop to see Mrs Judson who tells me of Townsend's attack upon her in Art News  Says also she & Ennis placed an ad of their Brooklyn show in Art News. I give her fits about this tell her she's playing into his hands. Mrs. J says "I know but Ennis felt as

Stop a while later disgusted, but after simplifying the backg. with two or three strokes of big brush the thing looks pretty good.  Dickinson had been in dancing around and smiling.  I say "what's the matter?"  He says  "Haven't you heard Kenyon Cox is dead."  But I say "Well why so merry?  "Why!" say Dickinson now some of the young fellows will get a chance. He was the one that held them up over at The Academy etc."  Mrs. Nave said she used to go out sketching with Cox.  Rather liked him.
