Tuesday Apr 1.  stop to see John Levy who takes back page & will give me check in advance.  Good.  Asks if Reinhardt is in.  Has a good Blakelock.  Stop at Ralstons to see Nisbet show.  Then Bourgeouis who says he positively hasn't the money to adv.  Over to McDowell club. Ex.  Jane Peterson runs [[strikethrough]] out [[/strikethrough]] over to me to introduce Jonas Lie.  Tell them about paper.  Lie says "put me down for subscription."  Jane bounces off to greet a woman.  I compare notes with Lie then beat it.  Jane comes running again & says "Oh, Mr. Britton I want you to meet Mr. Hudnot."  I stop a minute and Jane says "Don't you spell my name wrong in your paper as you did in The Transcript. Daniels man says "Dickinson is a good man"  Lawson says "I don't like those long nudes of Hales and that prize picture at [[Phila?]]  Why its an old Salon picture.  I don't like it."  R mentions Hales "Captn Finnes"  "Oh yes, says Lawson, "That's fine." 

Wednesday Apr 2 over to Brooklyn.  Stop at Montross.  Tell him about new paper M seems surprised.  Jim [[Henrys?]] with T.  Stop in to Knoedlers to see the Bellows.  Dr. Brinton comes in.  I take no notice of him as he goes about talking to people.  I see him but ^[[insert]] [[be friendly?]] [[/insert]] make no sign of recognition.  Make some notes in catalog then I find Brinton coming toward me.  Puts out his hand.  "Well James Britton how do you do."  B talks much [[finally?]]  Soon Mrs Merrick comes in looking very well.
