Tuesday 6 May.  Find troopers of 77th just back from whipping the Germans lined up in 12th St for parade  whole sea of them in street makes great picture in mustard colored clothes and hardened burnt faces. & bayonets fixed.  Onto Brooklyn.  Back, stop at Higgins who is touching up an old landscape for Miss Anita Rio.  Borrow 3 from H.  Stop at Kingores  find Robert Nichols English poet thin cigarette tango kid, he asks the pretty girl at the desk to dinner but she declines.  Talks a lot about Odgen Nash and McEvoy who he says is the fashionable rage as portrait painter in London.  I see old dodge of corralling the Irishman  Nichols say "McEvoy is making lots of money and being very wicked."  Cursed English!  This sallow faced eel like creature glides around the gallery chattering till Kingore comes in and when Nichols suggests his sending a show over to London says "Cant get the stuff".  I say "the country is full of it".  Kingore says but it would cost a fortune.  My show in Palm Beach cost me 600.  Stay at Milchs, lady there very attentive has sculpture show.
