    Thursday 1 January frightful cold  Stay in the house most of the day with the children

    Friday 2 January still very cold stay in [[till?]] late then over in car to Jersey Walcotts. to set for him and [[strikethrough]] [[finish?]] [[/strikethrough]] varnish my head of him.
    Saturday 3 January  Still very cold  Stop at Milch's to see Capt Naves show.  Find they've printed my article from Art Review on the Captain & he has my portrait up.  It looks like the devil.  But the whole show looks good in color.  Milch's not very enthusiastic however.  Go up to Metropolitan Museum to see the French show.  Find a landscape by Felix Vallotton very good and things by Bonnard and Flandrin & Manguin.  Look over the American sculpture down stairs - a sorry mess.  John Donoghue Sophocles X Olive Warners bust of Wenshire.  Picconille also has a good head.  The Bartlett things are commonplace.  Upstairs find the Museum has taken the cue from my summer Art Review & placed Luks & Prendergast in loans from Ed Rich.  Also [[pehing?]] Montague Flaggs. portrait of [[Guide?]]  Downstairs see the marvelous Egyptian tomb excavated in Egypt & brought over here by the Museum.  Cost horrendous.
