Copley Pelham Letters

p 31  Copley to (an English [[Zezzotintor?]])
        Jan 25 1765
asks for terms for cutting & printing a portrait of Dr Jos Sewall who died 1769 says "by the time Your answer comes I shall have the Picture finished & in proper Order to send.  Direct to John Singleton Copley portrait Painter in Cambrige Cambrige street Boston.

following are the proposals
   Proposals for executing a portrait of the Revd Doctr. Sewall in Mezzotinto by John S Copley wh. he promises to procure done by the Ablest Master in London for a Painting done by him self,   x x x   In case the Picture should be lost in goin to London, and for the meantime The Father of mercys should take the good doctor to himself by wh. means it will be impracticable for said Copley to proceed in the Design the Money paid by Subscribers shall be returned said Copley deducting for his labor four pounds twelve shillings wh is the price of said picture.

Peter Pelham Jr [[strikethrough]] [[wrothe?]] wrote Copley from the Barbadoes of the glorious wealth & Copley replies.
