Castle which seems an extension of Las Cabanas.  Old draw bridges, moats etc.  Cuban soldiers everywhere, a good natured lot; dressed in khaki and gaiters and soft felt hat identical with that of U.S. Army, so much that one could hardly dismiss the thought that they were U.S. soldiers but for their animated gestures and Spanish talk. Even the negroes look spik and span and wide-awake. I notice that they all have excellent well kept tan shoes. From Morro, wide view over the City and Gulf of Mexico. On the blue sea.- sailing vessels come in and out. A French man-of-war far away in the distance watching the port for enemies probably the [[strikethrough]] op [[/strikethrough]] looking out

for the german Cruiser [[strikethrough]] Karsl [[/strikethrough]] which is supposed to be around these latitudes.  Lunch at my hotel then to Post Office - found first letter of [[red underline]] Celine. No orders [[/red underline]]
Strolled thru streets till seven then with [[red underline]] Bush [[/red underline]] and Lister went to Hotel Miramar for supper then we went all together to see Spanish musical comedy then to bed.

Feb'y. 26. Another noisy night with little sleep.  Got up at about 6 A.M went to see the Market with [[red underline]] Bush [[/red underline]] and Lister then went to agent of Hooker Co. bought some sponges from a sponge specialist.  Then invited them all for lunch at [[strikethrough]] Arl [[/strikethrough]] Carbanchel.
Returning to the hotel I realize that I am missing my return ticket.  Looked everywhere cannot find it.  Evening went for long walk and finally took supper at Miramar
