Their clothes are almost invariably of cotton or linen washable material.  I have been now on the Island for several weeks and I have seen only two drunken persons, one was a german and the other one I do not know what nationality and this notwithstanding the fact that the sale of liquor and wine is not restricted and [[strikethrough]] can be [[/strikethrough]] Alcholic drinks can be obtained inexpensively almost everywhere.  It is here that everywhere coffee and fruit-juice drinks are obtainable everywhere. This evening there was another concert at the Plaza and the visitors were almost without

exception colored people, varying from the dark black nigger then every shade of chocolate and brown of the mulatto - with some distinct types of carib-indians with glossy hair thrown in.  I was astounded at the decorous behavior of all this [[strikethrough]] p [[/strikethrough]] colored crowd.
Their behavior was beyond any criticism and would have done honor to the best behaved white crowd.  Further more they were all well dressed without falling into gaudiness.  Their women were dressed in excellent taste and their ^[[choice of]] dresses and the color thereof was at least as good if not better than what would pass in [[strikethrough]] bl [[/strikethrough]] a gathering of whites anywhere in the world.  For an open air public concert the whole behavior and appearance of the crowd would have done justice to a select
