Reported we got 90% in formate unit and Sutherland got 98% in glyoxylic unit.  Explained present difficulties of situation as [[red underline]] I do not like to jump from small plant in Brooklyn to a million Dollar plant which is the minimum profitable commercial unit. Cold and gray [[red underline]] Paulus [[/red underline]] reports [[red underline]] 95% [[/red underline]] yield of formate from dry NaOH and confirms Waldenberger yield of 98% glyoxylic after introducing slight modification of Sutherland.  These higher results of Paulus became possible since I advised him to keep his gas warm so as to keep it saturated with moisture, while he was cooling his gas to dry it.  Went to Netherland's hotel then with [[red underline]] Jacobi [[/red underline]] to Claremont.  After lunch drove him around till 6:30 P.M.  I went alone to University Club then went to see [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] "The Bubble"

May 2 (Sunday) Spent most of day selecting a curriculum from elective program for [[red underline]] George at Cornell, [[/red underline]] either for B.A. or for B.S. in College of Agriculture
