May 6. Much dictation of letters all morning.  This afternoon came here Mr. [[red underline]] Bruere editor of Harper's Magazine [[/red underline]] who wants me to write some scientific articles [[red underline]] for Harper's. Says Michelson [[/red underline]] of Chicago will write about Physics, [[red underline]] Jacques Loeb [[/red underline]] biology, [[red underline]] Brandeis [[/red underline]] Economics
He is a friend of [[red underline]] Bullard and William Hard. [[/red underline]] Told him I do not feel in the mood just now but he says there is no hurry.  This reminds me I still owe an article to [[red underline]] Scribner's [[/red underline]]

Bruere is a very able and brilliant man, spent three pleasant hours with him and drove him back to New York.

All this very depressing.- [[red underline]] Jacobi [[/red underline]] is ill.  Went to see him then met Bush and Dr. Hebeden by appointment at Manhattan hotel to talk about furnishing [[red underline]] Monochlorbenzol [[red underline]] to a concern in Chicago that wants to use it for dyes etc. (Charge 2 hours)
